Primary Title: Consultant Physician (General Medicine)

About The Opportunity

A community-focused provider in the private healthcare and multispecialty hospital sector, delivering comprehensive primary and secondary medical care to semi-urban and rural populations in Assam. We prioritise high-quality, evidence-based inpatient and outpatient services, emergency stabilisation, and continuity of care through integrated clinical teams.

This on-site role is based in Batarhat, Assam. The position is recruited by Medico Hub and is focused on strengthening general medicine services for adult patients across OPD, ward and emergency settings.

Role & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality clinical care to adult patients across OPD, emergency admissions and inpatient wards, including diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up.

Lead daily ward rounds and manage inpatient caseloads—coordinate investigations, prescribe therapies, and document care plans in the hospital medical records system.

Stabilise and manage acute medical emergencies; initiate appropriate referrals to ICU or specialty teams when indicated.

Run dedicated OPD clinics and outpatient consultations, including chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, COPD).

Contribute to clinical governance: participate in morbidity & mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based protocol development.

Mentor junior doctors, interns and nursing staff; support CME activities and maintain accurate,



timely medical documentation and discharge summaries.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

MD or DNB in General Medicine (or equivalent postgraduate qualification)

Valid medical registration with the relevant State Medical Council

Proven clinical experience managing adult inpatient and outpatient medicine (experience in district/rural hospital settings is an advantage)

Demonstrated competence in emergency stabilisation and inpatient care

ACLS and BLS certification (current)

Strong clinical documentation and case presentation skills

Preferred

Experience with point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for general medicine

Prior experience working in community or rural healthcare settings in India

Familiarity with local referral pathways and public health programmes
