Cost Value Engineering – Precision Machining & Casting Company: Venttup Ventures Pvt. Ltd.

Location:
Bengaluru — On-site Employment Type: Full-time

Experience:
2–5 years Qualification: BE/BTech or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing or Metallurgical Engineering [email protected], [email protected] About Venttup VENTTUP is an engineering-led B2B manufacturing startup driving the indigenisation and localisation of critical components and subassemblies. We combine engineering expertise with a strong manufacturing partner network to serve customers across new energy, power transmission, aerospace, defence, mobility and industrial automation.

About the Role
We are looking for a Cost & Value Engineer – Precision Machining & Casting to develop accurate manufacturing cost estimates, evaluate production methods and identify opportunities to improve product value. The role requires practical knowledge of CNC turning, VMC/HMC machining, multi-axis machining and casting processes, with the ability to translate customer drawings and specifications into manufacturing routes, cost models and competitive quotations. You will work closely with engineering, sourcing, quality and manufacturing teams to support projects from enquiry and prototype development through production.

Key Responsibilities
Costing & Estimation
• Review customer drawings, 3D models, specifications and RFQs to establish manufacturing scope and resolve technical queries.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering raw materials, machining, casting, tooling, fixtures, heat treatment, surface treatment, inspection and applicable overheads.
• Estimate setup and cycle times for CNC turning, milling, drilling, boring, grinding and other required operations.
• Assess machine selection, operation sequences, batch sizes, tooling consumption and material utilisation.
• Develop casting cost breakdowns covering patterns, dies, moulds, cores, metal consumption, yield, melting, fettling, finishing and subsequent machining.

• Account for development costs, tooling amortisation, process losses and rejection allowances.
• Prepare cost sheets and quotation inputs for prototypes, small batches and volume production.
• Compare estimated costs with actual production costs and improve estimation accuracy.
• Value Engineering & Process Optimisation
• Build should-cost models to support supplier evaluation, negotiations and pricing decisions.
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost through material selection, near-net-shape manufacturing, machining allowances, process changes and improved tooling.
• Recommend design for manufacturability improvements while maintaining functional, quality and safety requirements.
• Evaluate suitable manufacturing routes, including machining from solid, machining from castings or forgings, and alternative casting processes.
• Review tight tolerances, surface finishes and inspection requirements with engineering teams to identify avoidable processing costs.
• Quantify proposed savings and coordinate technical validation and customer approvals where required.
• Supplier Development & Project Support
• Obtain and analyse supplier quotations, identifying cost gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Assess supplier capabilities, machine capacity, process suitability, quality controls and delivery commitments.
• Support localisation and new part development through feasibility reviews, supplier discussions and prototype cost assessments.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams during first-article development and production trials.

• Maintain cost databases for materials, machine-hour rates, tooling and subcontracted processes.
• Take ownership of costing accuracy, quotation turnaround and delivery of validated cost savings.
• Required Skills & Experience
• 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing costing, process planning, estimation or value engineering for precision machined and cast components.
• Practical understanding of CNC turning, VMC/HMC machining and multi-axis machining.
• Knowledge of relevant casting processes such as sand casting, investment casting, gravity die casting or pressure die casting.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, dimensional tolerances, surface finishes and material specifications.
• Understanding of steels, stainless steels, aluminium alloys, cast iron and other engineering materials.
• Familiarity with heat treatment, surface treatment, metrology and inspection requirements.
• Proficiency in MS Excel for cost modelling and CAD tools for drawing review and basic manufacturability assessment.
• Solid analytical, negotiation and cross-functional communication skills.
• Preferred Exposure
• Components for aerospace, defence, energy, power transmission or other demanding industrial applications.
• High-mix, low-volume manufacturing and prototype-to-production development.
• Machining of nickel alloys, titanium or other difficult-to-machine materials.
• Casting simulation outputs, machining simulation or CAM-based cycle-time estimation.
• Material traceability, NDT, first-article inspection and customer-specific quality documentation.

What We Offer
An opportunity to own manufacturing cost analysis and value engineering, work on critical indigenisation projects, and help build Venttup’s precision manufacturing capabilities.
