Job Description
• Norstella's News & Insights publications deliver journalism, analysis and intelligence to decision-makers across the pharmaceutical, biotech, medtech and consumer health markets. They include some of the world's most respected pharma publications:Pink Sheet, Scrip, Medtech Insight, Generics Bulletin, In Vivo and HBW Insight.
• These are B2B enterprise subscription products. Companies across the industry rely on them every day to make decisions. Our audience is senior, specialist and global — and increasingly finds us on social platforms first.
About The Role
• We are looking for a Social Media Lead to own the social presence of our Insights publications end to end. You will set the strategy, build the content calendar, write and publish the posts, and grow the audience. This is a hands-on ownership role: you are both the strategist and the person shipping every day.
• You will work closely with journalists, editors, analysts, designers, the multimedia team and marketing to turn our reporting into social content that senior industry professionals follow, share and act on.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Channel Ownership
• Own the social media strategy for all News & Insights publications and handles.
• Define channel-level positioning, voice and content mix across LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram and emerging platforms.
• Set and track audience growth, engagement and referral-traffic targets for each channel.
• Maintain platform standards — profiles, bios, brand assets, handle hygiene, verification, access and permissions. Content Planning & Publishing
• Build and run weekly and monthly content calendars aligned to the editorial agenda, major industry events and product moments.
• Write social copy that translates complex life-sciences reporting into sharp, credible, scroll-stopping posts.
• Package stories into carousels, quote cards, data visuals, short-form video and threads, briefing designers and the multimedia team where needed.
• Publish and schedule daily across channels, and cover breaking news and live events in real time.
• Run always-on community management: respond to comments and messages, escalate issues, and hold our tone in public. Audience Growth & Engagement
• Grow followers, reach and engaged audience on priority channels, with emphasis on the quality of the audience rather than raw volume.
• Build and run author and employee advocacy — activating journalists, analysts, hosts and external voices to extend reach.
• Experiment with formats, hooks, creative and posting cadence; measure, then scale what works.
• Support article packages, newsletters, podcasts, webinars and conference activations with dedicated social plans. Performance & Reporting
• Report weekly and monthly on channel performance against agreed targets.
• Use native and third-party analytics to explain what drove results and what should change next.
• Feed insight back into the newsroom — what audiences respond to, which topics travel, where recent demand is emerging. Collaboration & Governance
• Partner with editorial to plan social around upcoming coverage, and with marketing on campaigns and paid amplification.
• Own and administer social publishing, listening and analytics tools.
• Brief and manage freelance designers, editors or creators as required.
• Uphold editorial standards, brand guidelines, platform policies and compliance requirements in everything published. Required Qualifications
• 4–7 years of experience owning social media for a publication, media brand, B2B business or agency.
• Demonstrated record of growing an audience on LinkedIn and at least one other major platform.
• Excellent written English and strong editorial instinct for what makes a story work socially.
• Hands-on proficiency with social management and analytics tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Buffer or Later.
• Ability to produce and adapt creative yourself — working design and short-form video editing skills (Canva, Headliner or similar).
• Comfort with data: able to build a performance report, read it, and change the plan because of it.
• Sound news judgement and the discipline to work accurately at speed.
• Able to work independently and coordinate with global editorial and marketing teams across time zones. Prefered Qualifications
• Experience in healthcare,
life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotech, medtech, or business and financial media.
• Experience building social audiences for a B2B or subscription publication.
