About Venttup

VENTTUP is an engineering-led B2B manufacturing startup driving the indigenisation and localisation of critical components and subassemblies. We combine engineering expertise with a strong manufacturing partner network to serve customers across new energy, power transmission, data centres, aerospace, defence and industrial automation.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Precision Sheet Metal Design & Costing Engineer to develop technical designs and accurate manufacturing estimates for enclosures, panels, cabinets, racks and fabricated assemblies.

The role covers applications including power transmission and recent energy projects, control panels, BESS enclosures, data centre infrastructure, and aerospace and defence equipment. You will work closely with customers, sourcing partners and production teams to deliver designs that meet functional, quality, cost and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

- Develop 3D models, sheet metal flat patterns, fabrication drawings and assembly drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo or equivalent software.
- Design enclosures and structures for control and relay panels, FRTU/RMU applications, MCC/VFD panels, BESS systems, data centre racks and cabinets, and aerospace and defence assemblies.
- Prepare production drawings with material specifications, thicknesses, tolerances, bend details, weld requirements, surface finishes and assembly instructions.
- Apply design for manufacturability principles for laser cutting, CNC turret punching,

press brake bending, welding and assembly.
- Account for bend allowances, bend deductions, tooling limitations, hole-to-bend clearances, material utilisation and tolerance stack-ups.
- Coordinate requirements for structural integrity, equipment mounting, cable entry, ventilation, sealing and ingress protection.
- Support prototype development, first-article inspection, design validation and production improvements.

- Costing & Estimation

- Prepare detailed cost estimates covering raw materials, laser cutting, turret punching, bending, welding, hardware, finishing, assembly, inspection and applicable overheads.
- Calculate material consumption, nesting yield, scrap allowances, machine setup requirements and processing cycle times.
- Evaluate process routes and tooling requirements to select suitable manufacturing methods for prototype and production quantities.
- Prepare accurate Bills of Materials, cost sheets and technical inputs for quotations.
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations, assess manufacturing capabilities and recommend cost-effective sourcing options.
- Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining functional, quality and safety requirements.
- Compare estimated costs with actual manufacturing costs and improve costing accuracy.

Execution & Coordination

- Review customer drawings, specifications and RFQs; identify missing inputs and resolve technical queries.
- Coordinate with sales,

sourcing, quality and manufacturing teams from enquiry through delivery.
- Manage drawing revisions, engineering changes and technical documentation.
- Take ownership of design quality, quotation accuracy and timely completion of assigned work.

Required Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in precision sheet metal design, fabrication costing or enclosure manufacturing.
- Practical knowledge of laser cutting, CNC turret punching and press brake bending, including their impact on design, quality and cost.
- Understanding of materials such as CRCA steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
- Experience with welding, grinding, powder coating, plating and other relevant finishing processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, manufacturing tolerances and customer specifications.
- Proficiency in 3D sheet metal CAD tools and MS Excel for costing and analysis.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and cross-functional coordination skills.

Preferred Exposure
- Control panels, electrical cabinets, BESS enclosures, power transmission equipment or data centre racks.
- Precision components and assemblies for aerospace or defence applications.
- IP-rated enclosure design, material traceability and customer-specific quality documentation.
- Direct interaction with fabrication shops, machine operators and manufacturing suppliers.

What We OfferAn opportunity to take ownership of engineering and costing activities, work on diverse manufacturing applications, and contribute to building Venttup’s precision manufacturing capabilities. Apply: Send your CV to [email protected], [email protected]
